Planets and Constellations

The placement of planets, or wandering stars, within the constellations is a very scary thing for most Christians. It is just too much like astrology, the worship of the creation instead of the Creator, and strictly forbidden in the Bible. But the root word for Zodiac, Zoad, simply means walkway or pathway; in other words a story. The stars were created first and foremost for signs, and they were created by God. I believe the correct thing is not to shun them altogether, but keep in mind this is a method of communication between a glorious, all-knowing God and His people. If you recall, Jesus didn’t have very kind things to say about those that couldn’t recognize the signs of the times. The Persian wise men were astronomers after all, and most likely schooled by their predecessors that lived at the time of Daniel. A good Christian has to ask himself/herself, why were they able to recognize that the Savior had been born when everyone else (including His own people) weren’t? Where were their eyes looking? While I don’t recommend anyone studying astrology without a strong understanding of scripture, I do feel there is some valuable knowledge to be learned. As stated before, the danger comes in giving these letters of the cosmic alphabet power over you and taking your focus off of God. In researching the ancient Hebrew symbolism for the planets, one can see how depending on what planet is in what constellation, or what two planets conjoin and where they are when the do it, different messages or “signs of the times” can be relayed from God to His people. I mentioned two dual-natured signs in particular that can be seen as good or bad omens, Taurus and Sagittarius. Taurus can portray the Ox of the Tribe of Ephraim, the suffering servant side of Christ, or the beast that rises from the nations. Sagittarius can be Christ on a colt, Christ on the white horse of Revelation, or one of the four horsemen of the Apocalypse. Even the scorpion or serpent sign became the Eagle (its predator) when assigned to the Tribe of Dan. The point is that you have to understand the meaning that each planet takes to each constellation it moves through. And, every single placement at every point in time. Kind of like regression analysis without a computer. Wise men indeed. It does sort of help one understand what the ancients did with all those nights of their very long lives and no TV. But seriously, the pure knowledge has been so lost to us today via the corruption and mingling of the enemy’s astrology, that all we can do is try to understand a line up here or there. And not without a lot of prayer and fasting for Divine interpretation.
